Candidate Spotlight: Garlin Gilchrist for Detroit City Clerk

Garlin Gilchrist headshotWhat if we told you a local election in Michigan could change the balance of the Senate and determine who becomes president in 2020? Last year, Donald Trump won Michigan by only 10,000 votes. Part of that was because voter turnout in Detroit was diminished by poorly trained poll workers, out-of-date voting machines, and hours-long lines. The Detroit City Clerk is in charge of running fair elections in which all Detroit residents can make their voices heard, and the incumbent has clearly fallen asleep at the wheel.

Detroit needs a clerk who will make a change and bring fairness and accessibility to the voting process, which is why LaunchProgress is so proud to support Garlin Gilchrist. A native Detroiter with over a decade of grassroots organizing under his belt, Garlin Gilchrist will bring his experience from MoveOn.org, Microsoft, and the Obama administration to bear in Detroit. He will bring the Clerk's office into the 21st Century and make sure all of Detroit's residents will have their voices heard. Learn more about Garlin (and consider chipping in a few bucks) on his website.

North Carolina Candidates File to Run!

On Friday, July 7, filing opened for local elections in North Carolina. Our endorsed candidates, joined by friends, family, and supporters, filed to run for office, taking an important step to ensure their names appear on the ballot. Summer on the Campaign Trail

In the campaign world, summer means one thing: voter contact! Across the country, LaunchProgress endorsed candidates are knocking on doors, talking to voters, and getting their message out.
